Welcome Band Parents and Students!

Welcome to the website for the District 56 band program. If you have a child in the Viking Middle School, O'Plaine School, or Gurnee Grade School band program, this is the place to come for information on performances, fundraisers, band events, and other news of interest...most importantly, you are a member of the Do Re Mi club, which works hand in hand with the band directors to help give our children a rich musical education.

Monday, March 22 is Band Day at Max and Erma's!

It is time to eat out for the band again! Monday, March 22 is Band Day at Max and Erma's (by Gurnee Mills). Eat in or carry out - just present a band coupon when you pay and the District 56 bands will receive 20% of your bill. Enjoy a night of fine dining without cooking and cleaning up! The restaurant will be filled with band families so call your friends and make a date to meet at Max and Erma's.

BAND CD's ON SALE NOW!

All of the band performances on March 11th, 16th and 18th will be recorded and put on a CD available for purchase. We recorded the All-District Concerts for the first time 10 years ago and the CD was a hit. Collect them over the years and you’ll have an interesting portfolio of your child’s progress in the band program. Order forms are available in the Downloads section of this website. Orders are due by Wednesday, March 24.

We will be hosting an IGSMA District Organizational Contest at Viking School on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13. We need parents to help! Help with parking. Move chairs and stands, Record and post scores. Man the Welcome table. Sell concessions.

Never Miss Another Band Lesson!

Band lesson schedules for grades 4-5 are now available online! Go to the Downloads section of the website and click on Lesson Schedules. Find the day of your lessons and print out a copy. New lesson schedules are given out and posted online every quarter.

Monthly band calendars are also posted in the Downloads section.

This website is designed to provide as much information as possible about the Gurnee District 56 bands and our booster organization, Do Re Mi Club. Start by clicking on the word "Calendar" in the menu on the left side of this screen. This will take you to a calendar that shows every band event for the school year. Click on any event for more information about that event. You will see that our bands and boosters are very active. Interested in volunteering to help with an event? Send an email to your child's band director. They will forward it to the appropriate committee.

Is An Incredible Band Booster Club!

Do Re Mi is our District 56 band booster organization. They support the band financially through a variety of fundraising activities but it doesn't stop there. Every time the band performs, band parents are there, working hard to make the event run smoothly and successfully. Check out this website and become familiar with band activities. Come to a Do Re Mi meeting (times and dates are posted on this website) and meet other band parents. Chaperone a trip. Be a room monitor at a band contest. Tally scores at the Bowl-a-Thon. Before you know it, you'll be a full-fledged District 56 Band Groupie!

Click on Downloads on the left menu of this screen. The hand out you've been wanting to see might be posted there. Open it up. Read it. Print a copy. Click on Calendar on the left menu of this screen. Scan the months and find the event that you have a question about. Click on the date and there it is - the information about who, when, where, and what to wear! Never be left out in the cold again!
