Do Re Mi Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2006
Present: Peggy Goettsch Anne Drennan Kristy Schuetter
Janet Andrews Ruth Moore Venetia Parker
Karilyn Gagliardo Nita Cruz Linda Schultz
Mike Bandman Jeff Worth Wendy Cholewinski
Paula Knutel Lisa Kleine
Secretary’s Report:
Ø Correction to the Oct. 19th minutes: The weekend of Music in the Park that may not be scheduled because of 6 Flags possibly not being open, is the last weekend in April, not the first weekend in May as written. Report approved with correction.
Treasurer’s Report:
Ø The taxes are done; books are back from auditor.
Ø Checking balance appears low due the $400.00 checks issued to pay Dominos for Pizza by the Slice through December.
Ø Money Market balance is high because Pizza Day money was deposited.
Ø It makes sense to keep the checking account low and as much money as possible in the Money Market account to allow the higher interest rate to work for us.
Old Business:
Ø Four kids went to IMEA. It went well and they had a good time.
New Business:
Ø New committee members were introduced: Peggy Goettsch was introduced. She and Midge Ihrig will be working together as co-Vice Presidents. Wendy Cholewinski will be working with Venetia Parker this year on the Music in the Park committee and will take over as chairperson next year. Paula Knutel volunteered to work with Anne Drennan and Kristy Schuetter on the Bowl-a-thon and she will chair that committee next year.
Ø The Calendar has been updated through May 2007. The Bowl-a-thon will be entered soon. If and event is “clicked”, additional information about that event will appear. The Handbook is being worked on. Phone numbers of board members will not be listed on web, e-mail addresses will remain. We will consider purchasing a scanner for Ruth.
Ø Cheese and Sausage delivery went very smoothly; more smoothly than in the past, primarily due to not having to handle the money. Another advantage to early collection is that if there is a problem with a check it can be dealt with prior to delivery. Sales were down a little from last year. Total sales were $19892.00. We receive 50% of that so we earned $9946.00, minus our expenses. 165 students sold goods, 127 will be attending the Big Party.
Ø The Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the Holiday Shoppe on Dec. 9.
Committee Reports:
Bowl-a-thon:
Ø The date for the Bowl-a-thon is Sunday Jan. 14, 2007 from 12:00-4:00 at the Brunswick Bowling Alley.
Ø The price will be the same as last year.
Ø There will be cosmic bowling and the snack bar will be open.
Ø Anne and Kristy will soon begin to solicit donations from area businesses. If you know of a business willing to make a donation, please let Anne or Kristy know.
Ø Forms will be printed by Haapanen Burkett. They will go out to students the week of December 11th. Families will sign up for a specific bowling time.
Uniforms:
Ø No report. We will need a uniform chairperson next year.
Pizza Day/Max & Erma’s
Ø Pizza Day is going well.
Ø Max & Erma’s has been scheduled for Monday 12/18. Slips will be passed out at the winter concerts.
Pizza by the Slice:
Ø Earnings are as follows: Sept. $445.00
Oct. $542.00
Oct. $510.00
Ø Going well, kinks have been worked out.
Ø Need more 7th and 8th grade student helpers.
Music in the Park:
Ø Dates will be set early next year.
Ø Since dates are not set, Venetia and Wendy have not started working on anything yet. Spread the word that volunteers will be needed.
Directors Reports:
Ruth Moore:
Ø Beginner Band rehearsals will begin the week of November 28th. IC winter concert is December 14th.
Jeff Worth:
Ø Students will be placed in ensembles this week.
Ø Music for playing exams will be passed out in January
Mike Bandman:
Ø Music for high school auditions was passed out. It can also be found on the Warren High School website. Auditions for the HS band will take place in January.
Ø Pit Band is doing well.
Ø So far, approximately 72 students and 48 parent chaperones have signed up to go on the trip to Cedar Point.
Ø Recipients of scholarships to ISYM will be chosen in January.
Ø Solo/Ensemble is in February. Symphonic band members are required to perform a solo and with an ensemble. Info and music to go out soon.
Next meeting: Thursday January 11, 2007 at 6:30 in the Viking Band room.
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa Kleine
